The Eight Limbs of Yoga

A lot of people see Yoga as simply a physical exercise with the focus on postures. The True meaning of Yoga is much more than that. YOGA is the Science of Union -- The union of the "waking state" (ie. our daily experiences of the world while our eyes are open) with its most expanded state. In other words, Yoga is the science of joining together the individual lower self with the universal higher Self, the indivisible spark of God that resides within everyone.

To learn the Art of Ascension is to learn a systemetic meditative practice based in the ancient Teachings of the Ishayas, designed to effectively expand the mind to greater awareness of Ascendant Consciousness and beyond. What is commonly thought to be the eight steps of Yoga toward Divine Union are actually Patanjali's description of the aspects of Perpetual Consciousness, not the conditions necessary to gain it; therefore Patanjali meant the eight limbs of Yoga. Steps are consecutive, but limbs grow simultaneously.

“With the experience of Ascendant Consciousness, all the other seven limbs naturally and spontaneously develop; the result of this eight-fold development is the permanent stabilization of the experience of Ascendant Consciousness, which is known as Perpetual Consciousness, the first stage of enlightenment.”
